Questions about subscriptions, your Record, reminders, or anything that is not working.
Contact
It helps to include your iOS version and the Standards version, which is shown at the bottom of Settings. Please do not send screenshots of anything you would rather not share — the app has no way to send them and neither does this page.
Subscriptions
Purchases are handled by Apple. Standards never sees your payment details or your Apple Account. Billing, renewals, cancellations and refunds are Apple's, and the developer cannot issue a refund or cancel a subscription on your behalf.
- I paid, and Standards is asking me to subscribe
- Open Standards and use Restore purchases, on the subscription screen and in Settings → Subscription. A subscription belongs to your Apple Account rather than to an installation, so restoring is also what you use after reinstalling the app or moving to a new phone.
- I want to cancel, or change plan
- On your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Only Apple can cancel a subscription; nothing inside Standards can, and nothing in it pretends to.
- I want a refund
- Refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- What am I paying for
- One subscription and the whole app. You can experience Standards with one word before subscribing. After that, continued use requires a subscription. There is no permanent free tier, feature ladder, or additional purchase. Prices, billing periods and any free trial are set and shown by the App Store, in your own currency.
Your Record, and your data
Standards stores your record on your phone and nowhere else. There is no account, no sign-in and no cloud sync. That is deliberate, and it has consequences worth knowing before you need them.
- Is my record backed up
- Not by Standards. If you have iPhone backups turned on, the app's data is included in your own backups in the ordinary way, under your Apple account. Standards keeps no copy of its own and cannot restore one.
- Can I export my record
- There is no export in this version.
- What does Delete everything do
- Settings → Your record → Delete everything permanently removes your commitments, your answers, your Record, your record identity, your settings and any quarantined data from your device. It cannot be undone and there is no copy to restore from.
It does not cancel your subscription, and it does not delete anything Apple or RevenueCat holds about your purchase. Your purchase history is Apple's record, not ours, and destroying your record must not quietly cancel something you are paying for. - Can I delete one answered word
- No. A word can be edited or removed before it is answered. After it is answered it stands as given — a record you can edit is not a record. Delete everything is the only exit.
- My subscription ended. Is my record gone
- No. Nothing removes a record because a subscription lapsed. It stays on your phone, unchanged, for as long as Standards is installed. Resubscribing or restoring returns you to it exactly as you left it.
Reminders
Every reminder is a local notification, scheduled by your device and delivered by your device. Nothing is sent to a server and there is no push notification of any kind.
- Reminders are not arriving
- Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Standards and make sure notifications are allowed. Focus modes, Scheduled Summary and Low Power Mode can all delay or silence them. Standards asks for permission only after you have answered your first word, so on a new install it may simply not have asked yet.
- A reminder showed my commitment on the lock screen
- A reminder for a specific word contains the sentence you wrote, because that is the thing being reminded about, and iOS shows notification content on the lock screen by default. Nothing has been sent anywhere — this is your phone showing you your own words. To change it, turn off previews in iOS Settings → Notifications → Standards, or set no reminder on that word.
Troubleshooting
- Force-quit and reopen Standards. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen, pause, then swipe the Standards card away.
- Check for an app update in the App Store, and for an iOS update in Settings → General → Software Update.
- Restart your iPhone if something is wrong with drawing or with notifications.
- Use Restore purchases if the app is asking you to subscribe when you have already paid.
- Do not delete the app to fix something. Deleting Standards deletes your record with it and there is no copy to restore. Write to support first.
